The recent key deals which the Asia Pacific team has been involved in:
  

  • Advised China Railway Construction Corporation Limited on its $5.4 billion simultaneous H Share and A Share offerings. (Offices involved: Beijing/ Hong Kong)
  • Acted as US counsel to Boart Longyear Limited on its A$2.3 billion IPO and global offering. (Office involved: Sydney) (CFO Magazine 2007 IPO of the Year Award, Finance Asia’s “Best IPO Deal” award and Asian-Counsel’s Deals of the Year 2007).
  • Advised the Government of the Republic of Indonesia – the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises in relation to the public offering of 3.95 billion shares in PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (“BNI”). The Firm also represented BNI in a simultaneous Rights issue of Rupiah 4 trillion. (Member firms involved: Singapore/ Indonesia) (Asian-Counsel’s Deals of the Year 2007).
  • Advised Industrial and Commercial Bank of China on its takeover of a 90% stake in Bank Halim Indonesia. Advised Beijing Enterprises Holdings Limited on its HK$11.6 billion acquisition of Beijing Gas Group from Beijing Enterprises Group Limited. (Office/ member firm involved: Beijing/ Indonesia)
  • Advised Korea Resources Corporation and SNC on the acquisition of a 27.5% interest in the Ambatovy nickel project in Madagascar. (Office involved: Sydney) (Project Finance International 2007 EMEA Mining Deal of the Year).
  • Represented PT Bumi Resources Tbk in the divestment of 30% of shares in PT Kaltim Prima Coal, PT Arutmin Indonesia and other subsidiaries to Tata Power amounting to US$1.1 billion. (Member firm involved: Indonesia) 
  • Advised Kolberg Kravis Roberts & Co. on it’s A$4 billion joint venture with Seven Network Limited to form The Seven Media Group. (Office involved: Sydney)
  • Advised Daiwa SMBC Principal Investments Co. Ltd. on its buyout of HMV Japan business, comprising 62 entertainment retail stores throughout Japan, from HMV Group plc. (Office involved: Tokyo/ London)
  • Represented a consortium comprising Pacific Equity Partners and Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity in connection with an offer for all the shares in Veda Advantage by way of scheme of arrangement. (Office involved: Sydney)
  • Acted in almost all HK-listed REITs - Prosperity REIT, GZI REIT, Champion REIT, Sunlight REIT, RREEF China Commercial Trust, The Link REIT, Fortune REIT – and a number of other REITs in the Asia Pacific - Tower REIT, Fubon No. 1 and No. 2 REITs, MacarthurCook Industrial REIT and Tokyo Growth J-REIT.
  • Advised Standard Chartered Bank in relation to the conversion of its branch network in China into a locally incorporated subsidiary, Standard Chartered Bank (China) Limited. (Offices/ member firms involved: Amsterdam, Beijing, Chicago, Hong Kong, Paris, Philippines, Shanghai, Singapore and Thailand)
